I am coming to the conclusion, now that the temps are getting low, that one of the hardest parts of ranching is A) Getting out of bed in the morning & B) Going outside to take care of the animals. It is not that I am complaining, not at all, but darned, it is COLD.
You see, our main source of heat for the house is our wood burning stove, which does an awesome job, but somebody – ME – has to get out of bed to get it started!
And, if I was a bit lazy the day before, this involves going outside for wood.
But once that fire is roaring, and I have my first cup of coffee, it is quite wonderful.
And then, it is time to think about going outside to take care of all the animals…I think I’ll have one more cup of coffee before I do that :).
