Day 3 dawned cold and snowy with a couple of inches already on the ground. The weather guessers had fore casted flurries, but by the end of the day we had about 6 inches of light fluffy powder…perfect for skiing but not so much for barn building.
Our crew showed up early and picked up where they had left off the day before with the framing.
They were able to make some progress, but due to the weather the site was rather treacherous so they ended their day after only a few hours.
The barn will have two 12′ shed roofs, one on the west side and one on the east. This is the eastern facing one.
Before the crew called it a day, they had started moving the massive trusses in to the barn.
Once again, the humongous pile of dirt.
What a difference a day makes. In Colorado, we have an expression…If you don’t like the weather, wait 5 minutes and it will change. Day 4 was gorgeous with bright sun and deep azure skies.
The crew started right in on raising the trusses…they got the first one up before I could even make it to the site with my camera.
It was pretty amazing to watch how they raised the trusses. I had assumed they would need a bucket truck, but they did it with just ropes and ladders.
Now this guy is truly certifiable!!!
By the end of Day 4, the trusses were all in place.
Yet another perfect Colorado day!
Isn’t this a great picture with the sun rising and lighting up the barn?
The boys got going on the siding. Here they have installed it on the East side. At some point we plan to use the area under that shed roof for the turkeys.
Here is another angle of the East side.
The large hole in the middle will be for one of 4 sliding doors.
And there you have it, yet another busy day on our barn build.
Only 2 days left so stick around for the final pictures.
Until then, Happy Trails
