Darlin’ Clementine Shawl Pattern
Back in 2016, I wrote a post about Learning to Design Knitwear with the larger goal in mind of showcasing my hand dyed yarns. I took a class on Craftsy (who’s main purpose is providing online tutorials for many different types of crafts, knitting being one of those) about Lace Shawl Design, and now I am hopelessly hooked on designing.
Darlin’ Clementine is the first shawl I designed after taking the Craftsy class. I had a lot of fits and starts, erasing designs, rewriting them and erasing again, ripping out of yarn, and hard to believe, no ripping out of hair (although that certainly would have taken care of the greys)!
If you have not tried shawl knitting before, this design is a good introduction as the pattern uses standard knitting techniques, can be knit with one skein of yarn, and has a simple lace pattern where all the wrong side rows are worked in purl stitch.
The shawl features an fun center panel with a simple lace pattern on either side, a wavy border on the bottom, and a beaded picot bind off.
The Picot Bindoff, you can find my Tutorial Hereis easier than it looks, and provides a unique finished edge.
