Slipping and Sliding
When I moved away from NY, I thought I had left the ice behind. Sure, we get lots of cold and snow here in Colorado, but ice…not so much. Except for today.
Today, a freezing fog of ice moved in and covered everything as if a Zamboni had rolled over it.
The chickens were slipping and sliding, this way and that. Turkeys who came at a run when they saw me, thinking that I had food, were surprised to find they couldn’t stop until they had slid a few feet past me.
My eyeglasses froze, my coat was stiff with ice, and moving about was just as dangerous for me as the critters.
The good news was that I wasn’t in NY.
In case you missed it, the East Coast was hit with a winter storm this past week, and it really made a mess. Some people were stuck in their cars for 10 hours!
There was a whole 6 inches of snow in Central Park…Holy Cow, how did people survive?
But back here on the ranch, life goes on as usual. It will warm up later this week, and I will be complaining about the mud!
Until next time, Happy Trails!

I got stuck standing in the parking lot at the shop. too slick to move without a hand from lee. couldn’t open the truck door, it was stuck, the windows were frozen over and we couldn’t see to get home until we had warmed the truck enough to de-freeze the windows. not a fun time.
Glad you made it home safely! But…I can’t believe in that large, wonderful, antique shop of yours that you didn’t have an old pair of ice skates that you could have strapped on and skated home :)!
